Company Background

During the summer of 2014, a local business owner decided that he wanted to try his hand with a new venture. Tom was looking for something that both he and his daughter could grow into a successful entity. The thought of a dog boarding kennel came into play, and in September, he officially became the owner of what was then Squankum Boarding Kennel.

With the business came with a 20-plus year history and many repeat customers that were more like family, as well as some staff members who think of "the kennel" as an extension of their homes. In keeping with that tradition, Marci, Margie and Dee stayed on as staff while Tom made extensive aesthetic changes to the kennel itself. The main focus and direction has always been to create a premier boarding and grooming facility to accommodate all breeds and temperaments. With the growth of the business, new staff members were brought on board, including Tom's daughter, Amy, who came back home from California to join the team in the fall 2016.

All of these changes brought notion that our name didn't encompass who we really are. While we are in fact a dog and cat boarding kennel, we are so much more than that. We know that your pets are part of the family, and we make them part of our family while they are here - whether they come for a day or spend a whole vacation with us. And so Squankum Animal Inn was born!

A New Name & A New Focus

Our new name encompasses our focus perfectly. We welcome you to bring your pets to us when you need boarding, whether you have dogs, cats or birds! Need to board a rabbit? No problem! Not sure if we can board your animal? Call us and ask! We are housed on 15 spacious acres where our furry customers enjoy the "country feel" of our facility and the attention of our caring, friendly and nurturing staff. Our staff members get to know you and your pet so that they can provide that "home away from home" quality care for your pet while they stay with us. They insure that each pet has a clean, safe, and sanitized area to eat, sleep or just "hang out" and watch the activities. There is plenty of fresh air and a center yard of open space for our dog walking and exercise program during the spring, summer, and fall.

Indoor & Outdoor Facilities

At Squankum Animal Inn, we can accommodate all breeds of dogs because of the varying sizes of our runs. During inclement weather our pets don't miss out on their playtime - we let them play in our indoor arena. Local veterinarians make referrals and appreciate our follow up phone call if we have a concern about our mutual client. Some of our customers have been boarding with us for years, as each new pet becomes part of their family... and ours.

Our secure and safe environment has enabled us to successfully house local police canine squads and champion breeders, and we also board pets for owners all over the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York tri-state area.
